Donald Trump loves issuing executive orders that are not legally authorized. The president never understands the difference between executive orders and laws, has never been made clearer by Trump’s latest executive order demanding evidence of citizenship to use the federal registration form, and insists he cannot count votes after Election Day, threatening states that he will not comply with federal fund losses.
The most ridiculous part of order It is found in Section 7, where Trump claims to have enforcement.
To achieve full compliance with federal law, which has appointed presidential electors and established a united day to elect members of Congress.
(a) The Attorney General shall take all necessary steps to enforce 2 USC 7 and 3 USC 1 against states violating these provisions by including absentee or mail-order ballots received on the day of election in the appointment of presidential electors and the final tally of votes for the election of US Senators and House members.
(b) Consistent with 52 USC 21001(b) and other applicable laws, the Election Aid Commission shall condition each State’s available funds to the State regarding its compliance with the State in the requirements of 221081(a)(6). 52 USC 20301 et seq. Uniform and non-discriminatory voting receipt deadlines for all voting methods except for votes cast according to.
Second 8. Preventing foreign interference and illegal use of federal funds. The Attorney General will consult with the Secretary of the Treasury to prioritize enforcement of 52 USC 30121 and other appropriate laws to prevent foreigners from making or making donations to US elections. Similarly, the Attorney General shall prioritize the enforcement of 31 USC 1352, which prohibits lobbying by organizations or entities receiving federal funds.
As Guardian “Many provisions in the order are likely to be challenged immediately and legally suspected. The US Constitution explicitly gives states and Congress the power to set election rules and does not allow the President to do so.”
It is a very restrained way of saying this order is a big mountain of nonsense.
