It’s the concept of mainstream media lovingly driving the Democrats crazy. The media argues that even when Republicans are in charge of the entire government, Democrats are responsible for doing the important work of governance. The media is pushing this false idea as Republicans push this false idea.
As the House Rules Committee marked up ongoing resolutions to keep the government open, Rep. Jim McGovern took on this double standard.
I think you all probably need to take the arithmetic review course. The last time I checked you, you have a majority in the home and the Senate, and control the White House. For some reason, Democrats are, very frankly, the idea that if we don’t have an opinion, they are responsible for passing the CR or bill.
I think it’s ridiculous, I mean you run around boasting about this big delegation, put your mandate pants well and pass on whatever you want. And me, me, and me, and I think you’ll probably vote.
They’re a tough no on Monday and they’re a tough yes on Tuesday. They become caves. So, however, the idea that somehow you are in charge means you don’t have to take responsibility for running this place is ridiculous.
The idea is ridiculous. Republicans are in charge and they should be responsible for both what they do and don’t do in Washington, but that’s not how it works.
Republicans can take charge without accountability.
Democrats need to hold House Republicans accountable for the damage by letting them go from the CR.
If Republicans want to pass it, they can do it themselves.
