Tim Sherwood argues that Chelsea is fighting without Nicholas Jackson and that he is irreplaceable despite not a prolific scorer. Sherwood noted that Senegalese strikers will create space for players like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez.

Speaking to Metro, the former Tottenham star argued that Jackson’s absence was a major blow to Chelsea and that Enzo Maresca needed to find a way to succeed without the ex-Villarreals. Sherwood said:

“I think Nicholas Jackson is definitely being downplayed. I think he’s a focus, a real presence. He’ll take center Harves and get them back to make room for people like Cole Palmer to come. [Fernandez] Same thing. I think Enzo is in 10th place than No. 8. When he moves forward, he is a real threat to his goals. But they need someone to lead the line, take over the centre and make that space for them. ”

He added:

“He was a huge mistake. He’s not a prolific scorer, but he’s certainly a threat and they can’t replace him. They don’t have anyone like him. [Christopher] I’m playing with it as Nkunku or Pedro Neto and False Nine, but it doesn’t work. As a manager, you may need to find another way. I think they play a little sideways when predictable with the ball, but perhaps there’s no option to move forward when midfielders look up. Jackson could usually have his opponents stretched backwards or play longer in his chest to get the ball lifted. He was a big mistake as they didn’t have it in his absence. ”

Jackson scored nine goals and assisted five times in 23 Premier League matches this season. Chelsea skated second to fourth at the table, finishing sixth at some point last month. Incredibly, the Bruce was just two points behind Liverpool in December recently, but is now a 21-point drift in the leader.

Nicholas Jackson had expected to return to Chelsea after an international break.

Enzo Maresca confirmed that Nicholas Jackson could return to Chelsea after an international break. He revealed that the injured striker in a match against West Ham United (February 3) has been undergoing mild training at this point and has recovered from his hamstring problems. Noni Maduke is also expected to be active after the break. Maresca said (via 90 minutes):

“He could probably come back after an international break, too, he and Noni.”

“This is good news. Before the international break, there will be two games tomorrow and Sunday, then an international break, where you can recover energy and recover players and go to the end [bit of the season]. ”

Chelsea will then face Tottenham on April 3, followed by Brentford in the second half of the week (April 6). The Blues are only one match away from London in April. This is the first leg of the conference league quarterfinals with Legia Wortzava (April 10th).
