Wall Street Journal: “Since the friendly Johnson fell into the most powerful job in Congress, he fell into himself and cemented his position on the ladder of controversial leadership. But he said, He may not have stayed at his post without a last-minute assist from Trump, who has the only power to unify the fighting factions of the GOP. The Constitution assumes the Speaker of the House as head of government executives. However, it is widely understood in Washington that Johnson serves Trump’s joy. Recognizing this dynamic, Johnson has worked so hard to infiltrate the president and himself.”
“The trouble for Johnson is that, despite the fate of many of the Trump agenda hanging on his slight shoulders, Trump doesn’t seem to be too worried about Johnson’s political survival. He said “We regularly untook Johnson for the difficulties brought about by his slim majority. This is Trump, exacerbated by robbing members of the House to serve his administration.”
