Pooran selected in ICC T20 World Cup XI of the Tournament

Six players from the title-winning Indian team have been selected in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. India finished the tournament unbeaten after beating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.
Rohit Sharma
Runs: 257, Average: 36.71, Strike Rate: 156.7, Fifties: 3
Rohit Sharma, who was in good form at the top of the batting order, embraced India’s new approach in T20Is and showed the way with his brilliant ball-striking. Scoring at a rate of 156.7, the Indian captain scored 257 runs in the tournament, the second-most by any player. With three fifties in eight matches, Rohit also showed consistency while maintaining a great striking rate. His best performance came against Australia in the Super Eights when he thrashed one of the best attacks in the tournament and scored 92 off just 41 balls. In the semi-final, he made an impact again with a score of 57 off 39 balls. Rohit also led his team brilliantly as a leader, leading them to a historic T20 World Cup title win after 17 years.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Runs: 281, Average: 35.12, Strike Rate: 124.33, Fifties: 3
Along with Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz forged an impressive opening partnership, scoring 446 runs between them, including a three-hundred-run stand, and was integral in Afghanistan’s progression to the semi-finals of the tournament. Gurbaz shone with exceptional batting performances against Uganda (76), New Zealand (80), Australia (60) and Bangladesh (43). He finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and Afghanistan’s star player at the top of the batting order.
Nicholas Poulin
Runs: 228, Average: 38.0, Strike Rate: 146.15, Fifties: 1
Nicholas Pooran established himself as one of the best batsmen in the format, scoring 228 runs in the tournament at a scoring rate of 146.16. The next best West Indies batsman only managed 140 runs. Pooran, despite his risky batting, scored the sixth highest run-scorer, scoring 98 runs against Afghanistan to lead his team to a brilliant victory, which was also the highest score scored by any player in the tournament.
