Sen. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Wednesday he plans to announce his future as an independent presidential candidate in Phoenix on Friday morning, ahead of a rally that former President Donald Trump plans to hold in Glendale the same day.
The day before, Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, said in an interview on Tom Bilyeu’s podcast “Impact Theory” that she might drop out of the race and support former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

“We’re looking at two options: either we stay and start a new party, but there’s the risk of Kamala Harris and Walz becoming president, because we’re going to get votes from Trump,” she said on the podcast. “Or we leave now and align ourselves with Donald Trump. And then we throw that option out and explain to our supporters why we’re making this decision.”
According to multiple media outlets, RFK has not yet announced what will be discussed during the announcement, only saying that he will be “addressing the nation.” According to Shanan and Birju’s interviews, the Kennedy campaign has openly accused Democrats of “sabotaging” the campaign, signaling their support for the Republican Party and Trump.
But both Kennedy and Shanann have advocated for a third party option, with “71 percent of Americans wanting a third party,” Shanann said.
Kennedy’s announcement will be made at 11 a.m. PST in Phoenix, while Trump’s rally will begin at 3 p.m. PST in nearby Glendale.
