South Korean Si Woo Kim carded a 5-under 66 to move to the lead after the third round of RBC Heritage, after three shots from Tommy Fleetwood’s pace.
Kim entered the final round with Harbortown Golf Link at 15 under 198.
Thomas, who posted a 61 in the opening round, started the day with a two-shot advantage, but only managed to mix four birdies and two bogeys at a 2-under 69, but Novak matched Kim’s 66.
Kim, 29, is aiming for his fifth PGA Tour victory, but is aiming for his first victory in more than two years, but managed to escape his only bogey on the 18th.
Thomas was handed a one-stroke penalty on the par-5 second hole. He moved the ball with a waste bunker, but still managed to save Pa.
Maverick McNeely (65) finished fourth at 13 under, while Brian Herman (66) and England’s Fleetwood (68) were ranked fifth at the age of 12.
Fleetwood only led one from the lead when he made his second birdie on the fifth day, but his bogeys in the seventh and 10th have made progress, but thanks to birdies on the 11th and 16th, he was able to play the final eight holes under two.
Defending champion Scotty Schaeffler shot 68 and moved to 11 under, tied up to Russell Henry (70) and 7th place.
