MSNBC host Alex Wagner appeared on Colbert’s show this week and was ecstatic about the fact that Biden had dropped out of the race, you know, for democracy’s sake.
She even said Biden’s withdrawal gave the country hope after the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump.
Wagner’s performance here highlights a different reality in which many on the political left live.
News Busters Report:
Wagner argues Biden’s withdrawal helped country heal after Trump assassination attempt
MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, speaking with CBS’ Stephen Colbert during a taping of The Late Show on Wednesday, somehow managed to argue that President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race was the lift the country needed after the low point of the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. Wagner also heaped praise on Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz’s “bubbly” personalities.
Colbert asked, “Are you excited about this change in election coverage?”
Wagner was not only excited, but he made no attempt to hide it: “I mean, Stephen, yes. Yes, a thousand times over, I’m excited.”
She added: “The assassination attempt was the lowest thing that’s ever happened to this country, right? So I think that going from an extraordinary act by a man named Joe Biden to a political party coming together and trying to do what they really think is best for this country gives real hope for our democracy. Not just because it’s good for Democrats strategically, but because I think for anyone who lived through the Trump era, for all of us, there was real question of where this country was going.”

Note that Wagner makes no mention of the real economic pain being caused to Americans — for wealthy media figures like her, it’s all about emotion.
