US District Court Judge Paula Sinis set up a new hearing in the case of MS-13 gang member Kilmer Abrego Garcia after determining that the United States must promote return from El Salvador.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the United States to promote the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a member of the MS-13 gang.
The verdict was unanimous. There were no objections.
Judge Sinis denounced the Trump administration during Friday’s hearing, demanding a “daily update” about Kilmer Abrego Garcia’s whereabouts.
The judge said Trump administrators “have not made any meaningful efforts to comply” with the order calling for Abrego Garcia’s physical position and custody.
“The defendant made no meaningful efforts to comply. Instead, he complained that the order was “irrational and incompetent,” including “individual considerations that are completely inappropriate for judicial review.” ” – the judge wrote.
“From this court’s perspective, the claim that the defendant’s claim cannot answer these basic questions, as there are no other non-specific “examinations” that have not yet been made, provides no basis for a lack of compliance,” she wrote.
The judge requested a daily update of Abrego Garcia.
“Therefore, this is ordered to continue daily from April 12, 2025, then daily until further orders by the court. Defendant shall file every day before 5pm on ET, before 5pm, when Step Defendant takes and to facilitate his return.
President Trump told Air Force reporters he would listen to the Supreme Court.
“If the Supreme Court said, “Take someone back.” [from deportation]’I do that. I respect the Supreme Court… I’m not talking about lower courts. Trump spoke about the Abrego Garcia incident.
