On Sunday morning, President Trump turned the tables when CNN’s Dana Bash tried to ambush him, recalling why he chose Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate.
In an attempt to corner Vance, a hostile Bash bombarded him with question after question about innocuous comments he made years ago, ignoring the serious questions surrounding Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz. But while Bash sulked, Vance remained calm and delivered scathing criticisms of Harris and Waltz.

VANCE: You’re asking me three questions now about something I said three years ago. What do I think about the fact that Kamala Harris supported an open southern border policy?

BASH: I’m not interviewing Kamala Harris, I’m interviewing you.
VANCE: Joe Biden’s mental state as president: You know, I’m willing to do this interview because I respect the American people.
BASH: Thank you.
Vance: She’s been on the list for three weeks now…

VANCE: The point is, Dana, you can take me for 15 minutes, or however long you want. We should be talking about important public policy. We’ve talked very little about that, but we’ve talked a lot about a cynical comment I made three years ago. I think we should be talking about important issues.
VANCE: I believe President Trump thinks Harris is a chameleon, that she’s one person in front of one audience and a different person in front of another audience.
Look, Dana, she’s not running a political campaign, she’s running a movie. She’s talking to voters behind a teleprompter. It’s all scripted, she’s not publicly taking policy positions. She wanted to ban fracking and now she doesn’t. She wanted to defund the police and now she doesn’t… She should explain why she presents different policies to one audience and different policies to another audience.
Vance also harshly criticized Tim Walz for lying about his military record.
Vance: I have never criticized Tim Walz for anything he did while in the military. I have criticized his decision to retire and for lying about his own record.
This man was caught on video saying, “I had a gun in a war. He never went to a war.” I’m not criticizing Tim Walz’s military service. I’m criticizing the fact that he lied about his military service for political gain.
