Fall is here, and PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte) season has officially arrived. And if, like me, you live in an area where it’s still 80 degrees in October, pumpkin smoothies are a refreshing way to get a taste of fall. Even if you don’t, you’ll love this creamy, protein-packed smoothie.
It’s easy to make for breakfast and has a great combination of healthy fats, protein, and small amounts of carbohydrates. Plus, since it contains pumpkin, it also contains vegetables. You can also eat it as a post-workout snack or mix it up as a dessert. The kids don’t even know there’s no ice cream in it. That said, I have nothing against healthy ice cream.
This smoothie is naturally gluten-free and easy to make dairy-free smoothies.

I used raw milk this time, but you can use your favorite milk instead. If you’re looking for a dairy-free option, cashew milk would be really delicious. Unsweetened almond milk and coconut milk are also non-dairy milk options.
Many pumpkin smoothies call for vanilla yogurt, but most of them have added sugar. I like to use plain Greek yogurt (low in carbs and high in protein) and add my own vanilla and natural sweeteners to it. If you don’t want to use maple syrup, try raw honey, stevia, or frozen bananas.
And if you want to stay dairy-free, there are plenty of great dairy-free yogurts in stores now. You can also make your own coconut milk yogurt.

What would a pumpkin pie smoothie be without pumpkin? You can use homemade or canned pumpkin here. The recipe doesn’t call for much, so this is a good time to use up leftover pumpkin puree. However, we recommend avoiding pumpkin pie filling. These already have spices mixed in, but they also contain a lot of unhealthy sugar.
