Randi Weingarten, convention director for the American Federation of Teachers, pleaded with attendees at the organization’s 2024 convention not to protest Kamala Harris’ appearance before the group on Thursday.
Weingarten told the crowd: “I ask that we all follow the rules that they are asking us to follow… I ask that we all honor our moral obligation to one another and not protest in the halls… She is the first African American woman and Asian American (AAPI) candidate to run for president of the United States!”

Weingarten’s comments follow a lengthy, erratic post filled with yelling, fist-shaking and vitriol on Monday in which she called Trump an “existential threat to democracy and freedom” just days after the assassination attempt.
Harris praised Weingarten, calling her a “force,” but remained silent about her efforts to prolong school closures that have adversely affected millions of students.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Scott Jennings, a senior CNN political commentator and father of four, spoke about the devastating impact her actions have had on American children.
“I speak for millions of American parents, I’ve had to teach my kids from home, my wife has had to teach our kids from home, and I’m astonished that you made the case this week that you want to reopen schools,” Jennings told Weingarten during the panel.
“I believe most parents see you as the vanguard of school closures. You made numerous statements in the summer of 2020 that scared people to death about the possibility of schools reopening, and you have shown no remorse for the generational damage that has been inflicted on our children.”
