Southampton have reached agreement with Arsenal over the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The fixed fee is set to be £18 million, which could rise to £25 million if additional performance-related payments are paid.
Negotiations are ongoing to agree other aspects of the transaction, but prospects for a deal to be reached remain positive for all parties.
Ramsdale, who is under contract with Arsenal until 2026, is said to be open to leaving the club if the right offer comes.
The England international lost out as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper to David Raya last season and there was speculation he could leave the club this summer.
The Saints were set to sign Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlou earlier this week but decided against signing him following a medical on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have close to finalising the details of a deal to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as a replacement for Ramsdale if he leaves the club and are thought to be in a good position to complete the deal.
