Test method
Mashable’s staff has conducted varying degrees of field testing on all MacBooks on this list. At a minimum, this includes inspecting the build quality and using it for a variety of real-world tasks for weeks at a time. This includes working with different types of documents, checking email, watching videos, taking photos with your webcam, joining video calls, listening to music (via Spotify), and playing games (if possible). (if any), and experimentation with unique software features and usage. The case they claimed to support.
Additionally, most of the MacBooks featured here are built to run industry-standard benchmark software. We run these benchmarks to reproduce real-world tasks and generate scores that can be used to easily compare the performance of different laptops. We recently started implementing these benchmarks in our testing. We expect to see those benchmarks used in all new laptop reviews going forward.

This test measures CPU performance on several common tasks and results in Record the resulting multicore score. The higher the score, the better.
Battery life benchmark
Battery life for the MacBook we tested was around 11-12 hours, with 15+ being exceptional, and 9-10 hours for the Windows laptops we reviewed, with 12+ being ideal. When it comes to gaming laptops, it’s a different story. You just need to last at least two hours on a single charge to get approved, and you’ll earn extra brownie points if you hit the four-hour mark. Chromebooks, on the other hand, have a baseline of 8 hours, but 9-10 hours is optimal.
We’ve evaluated laptop stamina in several different ways. To standardize the way we test battery life, we conduct a video rundown test on MacBooks and Windows laptops, including looped 1080p versions. tears of steelan open source short Blender movie (50% brightness).
final thoughts
After evaluating the laptop’s hands-on performance and benchmark test results, we’ll make a final recommendation based on whether we think it’s overall value for money. You might get a pass on a laptop that’s too expensive if it looks and works really well and you think it’s worth the trouble of finding it on sale.
It’s worth mentioning that these aren’t the only MacBooks we’ve tried. We are constantly testing and evaluating new models across different categories, but many are not shortlisted. With that in mind, you can expect this guide to evolve fairly continuously. We are always looking for new top candidates.
