Updated: March 11, 2025, 4:05pm EDT iRobot announced the new Roombeth Fleet on March 11th, including Roomba 105, Roomba 205, Louva Plus 405, and Roomba and 505.
It will come as a surprise to more people than you think “loomba” it’s not Universal term for robot vacuum. In fact, it is the capital “R” which indicates roomva as an appropriate noun, not a general trademark. Roombeth is a robot vacuum created by Irobot, and searching for the best Roombeth is a much more specific search than looking for the best robot vacuum regardless of brand. But Roomba’s band-aid or Kleenex-level exchangeability really exemplifies how the iconic iRobot has turned out in the world of automatic floor vacuums.

When shopping for Roomba you really only choose from what I call iRobot’s core lineup. It is a group of 3-5 Roomba series that are actively sold on the Irobot website. The word roomva, where the title contains letters and numbers (such as J9+ or I5), or Max, is more advanced than roomva with numbers (such as 692) or words (such as Roomvac or required) in the title.
As of early winter 2025, the five main room va collections for the glove are: From cutting edge to the smallest and most advanced: Max, J-series, S-series (almost obsolete), I-series, and Essential series.

A plus sign (such as J9+) indicates that the model comes with a self-blowing dock, and the MOP indicates that there is a “combo” in the title. Please note that there are several room baths that you can purchase with or without mopping features or self-owned docks. “Max” is a new layer of Roomba Tapology introduced with the Roomba Combo 10 max drop. This refers to the ability of Mopping Roomba to clean and dry its own mopping pads within a self-blank dock. At the other end of the spectrum, “required” means “most basic” of the Roomba family. That is, there is no smart mapping.
To identify which Roombas have smart mappings, pay close attention to how navigation is discussed in the title or list. If the word “smart mapping” literally doesn’t appear anywhere, that loomba can’t map your home and clean a particular room for the commander. No, those related to “smart navigation” or “clear rows” are not counted.
When will the new roomva come out?
You won’t see a new Roomba until at least spring 2025, but that’s probably not even a new flagship Roomba. If in your eyes the question about “New Roomba” refers to the next Roomba that will be a big deal, you will wait until August or September 2025.
iRobot is on a different release schedule than most other Big Robot vacuum brands that will normally debut new flagship models at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. Alternatively, Irobot tends to debut flagship models that year at the end of the summer. The past two flagship room baths (2023 Combo J9+ and 2024 Combo 10 max) were announced in September and July, respectively.
Apart from the big ones, iRobot drops other room baes throughout the year, like an updated version of the room bas in the base layer.
What’s more, something fun happens to Roombe, who is always on the go. Roombeth sells quite frequently, even if it’s not Black Friday, Holiday, or Prime Day season. So, at the time of reading this, the particular roomva you are paying attention to could be $100 or $200 off. By default, we list each MSRP, but we’ll mention the most common selling prices that each Roomba will drop in in the “The Good” section below.
