Reggae Month Celebration will be collaborated with the Jamaica National Gallery (NGJ) International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC)I proudly present it The 30th Art of Reggae Exhibition. The exhibition will be held on February 23rd and will be held on July 13th, 2025 at the Jamaica National Gallery (12 Ocean Boulevard, Jamaica).
Celebrating the influence of reggae on hip hop
At this year’s exhibition Submitting Top 100 from 9th International Reggae Poster Contestfocusing on themes “The Jamaican roots of hip hop.” This collection pays homage to the legendary ones Clive Campbell, also known as DJ Kool HercA Jamaican-born innovator who laid the foundations of hip-hop culture.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1955, Campbell moved to the Bronx, New York at the age of 12, creating a deep musical influence on Jamaican sound system culture. Inspired by Jamaican DJs like U-Roy, King Stitt and Count Matchuki, he revolutionized music by rapping Riddims and completing his instrumental break.
IRPC mission
Recently founded in 2011 Michael Thompson and Maria Papaevstachithe International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC) celebrates reggae and its widespread cultural influence worldwide. This contest serves a greater purpose. We support the establishment of the Reggae Hall of Fame Museum and Performance Centre in Kingston, Jamaica. Furthermore, we aim to increase awareness and support Alpha Research Institute (formerly Alpha Boys School), a professional facility run by the Sisters of Mercy. The school provides holistic education and training to underprivileged young people, raising the next generation of musicians and creatives.
