Cash App is facing a massive legal settlement following a fraudulent data breach, and affected customers could be able to claim up to $2,500 if the class action settlement is approved.
of The class action lawsuit alleges that Cash App and its parent company, Block, The company was negligent when a former Cash App Investing employee improperly accessed account data in 2022, and again when another user accessed certain Cash App accounts in 2023 using a reused phone number that was linked to the account.
If you have used Cash App, one of the most popular payment services with over 50 million users, in the past six years and experienced an unauthorized transfer of funds, or if your Cash App personal information or account was accessed without your consent, you may be eligible to file a claim.

Who is eligible to claim a share of the Cash App settlement?
You can apply between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024 if you meet any of the following criteria: Settlements:
- You are a current or former customer of Cash App or Cash App Investing, and your personal information, your Cash App account, or your Cash App Investing account has been accessed or obtained without your authorization.
- There has been an unauthorized withdrawal or transfer of funds to or from your account.
- There was an incomplete resolution to an error on your Cash App account or linked financial account.
How much money can I receive in Cash App payments?
If you qualify for the $15 million settlement, you can claim up to $2,500 per person in out-of-pocket losses and $25 per hour in compensation for up to three hours of lost work time. Out-of-pocket losses include costs associated with credit monitoring.
You can also submit a documented trading loss claim. To claim for out-of-pocket losses or trading losses, you must provide third-party documentation.
How do I file a Cash App settlement claim?
If you’re eligible to receive a Cash App payout, you must submit your claim by 10:59:59 PM PST. November 18, 2024.

The deadline to opt out of or challenge the settlement is November 1, 2024.
Note: The previous version of the mailable form listed the filing deadline as Oct. 15, 2024. The new form says it’s Nov. 18, 2024. “As a reminder, please adhere to the Oct. 15, 2024 deadline, as it may have recently changed,” the settlement administrator told CNET in an email.
When is Cash App payout date?
The final approval hearing for the Cash App Settlement is scheduled for December 16, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. PST. If approved, payments will be made on or after that date.
