The Lenovo Tab Plus is compact, measuring 11.5 inches and weighing about 1.4 pounds. It’s similar in size to the iPad Air, but unlike Apple’s devices, this tablet has a protruding bottom half, so it doesn’t have a smooth back. The bottom half is 13.58 mm thick, while the top half is only 7.7 mm thick. There’s a good reason why Lenovo designed the tablet with this unique look, and the bottom half houses two of the model’s best features.
First, there’s an integrated kickstand that sits flush with the back of the tablet. It pops out to give you a stable base and allows you to tilt your device up to 175 degrees. It may seem silly to praise a kickstand, but keep in mind that most tablets have no way to stand on their own without adding a protective case. This is a great quality-of-life feature that improves the viewing experience and is something we hope other manufacturers take advantage of.
And when combined with smartphone support, Tab Plus doubles as a powerful Bluetooth speaker.
Speaking of audio, the sound system is my favorite feature of the Tab Plus. There are eight JBL speakers consisting of four tweeters and four woofers, all fine-tuned with Dolby Atmos. By comparison, Apple’s current premium tablet, the M4 iPad Pro, only has four speakers.
We found this system’s audio performance to be outstanding. As part of my test, I watched the entire second season of Arcane on Netflix. From the first episode to the last episode, I enjoyed the powerful, clear sound that filled the room. That being said, the bass is a bit lacking. The bass won’t be as punchy as it is from a soundbar.
The screen quality is also great. It’s a 2K display that runs at a 90Hz refresh rate, delivering bright colors and smooth animations. It performed well in most applications. However, I didn’t like how dark it looked. The screen’s brightness peaks at 400 nits, which is fine for indoor viewing but not outdoors. The display struggled to glow in bright environments.

Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC (system-on-chip) and 8GB of RAM (common hardware in budget devices). The G99 isn’t a very powerful chipset and is a few years old, but it does the job well enough. I never encountered any performance drops while casually browsing or playing mobile games in Google Chrome.
The Lenovo Tab Plus works well as a work tablet. You can connect accessories such as a keyboard via Bluetooth. Thanks to Android 14, it now has a desktop mode to mimic your desktop settings. This operating system also offers attractive gesture controls. My favorite part is that swiping up takes you to a carousel of open apps that you can move back and forth between. Smartphones have similar functionality.

Multiple accessories are available, but even with all these gadgets, don’t expect Lenovo’s machine to be powerful. We ran the PCMark Work 3.0 benchmark test to see how well the tablet performed across multiple workflows. At the time of my testing, the Lenovo Tab Plus performed very well, coming in at number 32 out of 200 in the developer rankings. Best tablet list for November 2024. These numbers tell us that while the Tab Plus may not be amazingly good at tackling difficult workloads like video editing, it’s not terrible either. Hardware performance may be middling, but battery is definitely not. The tablet lasts an average of 15 hours on a single charge. I left it running one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find it still playing my test live stream the next morning.
Storage capacity is surprisingly small at 256GB. It would have been nice to have access to a larger drive, but with a tablet this cheap, you have to be prepared for some cost savings. Luckily, you can expand the storage by inserting a 1TB mini SD card into the top slot.
