The Chicago White Sox signed free agent third baseman Nick Senzel on Wednesday.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Senzel, 29, was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals on July 6 and released five days later. He played in 64 games with Washington this year, batting .209 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs.
Senzel played six major league seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2019-23) and Nationals, batting .235 with 40 home runs and 143 RBIs in 441 games.
Chicago made two more moves official on Wednesday, designating Danny Mendick as a player to be designated and optioning fellow third baseman Lenin Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte.
Mendick, 30, batted just .197 in 47 games this season with three home runs and eight RBIs.
Sosa, 24, played in 52 major league games with the White Sox in 2024, batting .237 with four home runs and 15 RBIs.
The Athletic reported that catcher Martin Maldonado was also designated a designated player after batting just .119 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 48 games this season.
