Honestly, when I first heard about the white BBQ sauce it didn’t jam at all with me. I continued to think about its deep tomato red sauce with my favorite smokey overtones in smoked ribs. But then there are so many different varieties of barbecue sauce. Why doesn’t it work with mayonnaise?
It just shows you not to stop learning. (Or stop eating.) Of course, that meant I had to find my own twist on it. My homemade mayonnaise created a base and then played with traditional ingredients until I found the balance that worked for us. I’m happy to share the results with you.

How to make white barbecue sauce


- mix – In a medium bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard, brown sugar, horseradish, garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and creole seasonings. (Photo 1)
- Adjust Seasonings with salt, pepper and vinegar, if necessary. (Photo 2)
- use Store immediately or in a covered fridge for up to 3 days.


Other ways to use white barbecue sauce
It’s great to beat this sauce with a chicken sandwich instead of the classic mayonnaise. And it has horseradish, so it’s perfect with grilled beef.
Another way I enjoyed was a salad dressing of potato and tuna macaroni. The wings and fries grilled in this sauce are far better than ketchup.
