The Scientist proudly presents What’s Your Story?, our second annual science writing competition celebrating the fundamental impact of science communication on research and discovery. Science begins with a spark of inspiration that arises from curiosity, an idea, or an interest. A well-told scientific story has the power to generate excitement and encourage further discovery in a lasting chain of creativity and sharing.

What’s your story?Scientists have the opportunity to engage with a broad public audience, receive feedback from The Scientist’s editorial team, and compete for first and second place. First place will receive $500 USD. The next 2nd place will each receive $250 USD.

This competition is open to senior scientists, graduate students, research fellows, and laboratory managers interested in science communication. To apply, please submit a 500-600 word journalistic style article about a recently published scientific discovery in the life sciences.
