At this point, every aspect of William Shakespeare’s life has generated more speculation than any of us could digest at one time in a lifetime. Of course, that applies to his professional life, but also to his more cleverly documented personal life. As far as his marriage is concerned, the known facts are: Marriage licenses were issued to 18-year-old William Shakespeare and about 26-year-old Anne Hathaway in Worcester on November 27, 1582. Six months later, the first Susanna of three children came. For most of his professional life, William lived in London, but Anne, who was only willing to have her husband’s “second best bed,” remained in her hometown of Stratford Apon Abon.

According to one general interpretation, Shakespeare was a shotgun wedding Avant la lettrethere was less motivation from romance than convenience. William’s career would have taken him to London anyway, but without a good reason to be in town, they would clearly explain their obvious choices. (As for his best bed, it would have been customarily reserved for guests.) However, according to a new interpretation of the old document by a professor at the University of Bristol, Matthew Stegglethe couple would not only stay in communication, but they would have lived together in the capital for a while.

“The Hereford Cathedral Library has a fragmentary 17th century letter to “Mrs. Shaxpare” regarding her husband’s dealings with a fatherless apprentice,” writes Steggle. His research paper was recently published in the journal Shakespeare. “Of Shakespeare recorded in London, William Shakespeare is the only viable candidate who fits the details of the letter.” Steggle’s analysis states, “I painted William and Anne’s Shakespeare in London, and lived in Trinity Lane, perhaps around 1599-1603. It further suggests Anne Shakespeare, who is not lacking in her husband’s London life, but is present and involved in his financial and social networks.”

new york The era‘Ephrat Livni quotes Steggle “If this letter belongs to them, we can get a glimpse of Shakespeareans in London involved in social networking and business issues, and present a united front in this demand against important demands to help poor orphans,” which added “lending some weight” to the pop culture trend of “rethinking some weight” of “rethinking marriage and Hathaway’s role.” Thus, each era continues to create Shakespeare and Mrs Shakespeare, who feel it is necessary.
