Devin McGlockton had 19 points and eight rebounds as Vanderbilt defeated The Citadel 105-53 in Nashville on Wednesday.
The Commodores (10-1) never trailed, holding a 35-2 advantage in points off turnovers and shooting 55.9 percent from the floor.
Vanderbilt, currently on a four-game winning streak, surpassed last season’s win total, set a season high in points scored and a season low in goals conceded. The Commodores surpassed 100 points for the first time since the season opener.
Jason Edwards added 19 points for Vanderbilt. AJ Hoggard had 13 points and eight assists, Jalen Carey had 12 points and Tyler Nickel had 11 points.
The Citadel (5-6) was led by Colby McAllister with 15 points. Brodie Fox, who averaged a team-best 17.6 points, finished with nine points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field and 5-of-12 from the foul line.
The Bulldogs made 16 of 35 3-pointers in Monday’s loss to Central Arkansas, but on Wednesday they made 7 of 26 from long range and turned the ball over 20 times.
Nickel made a 3-pointer with 18:46 left, giving Vanderbilt a 30-point lead for the first time.
MJ Collins’ dunk with 9:59 left extended the lead to over 40 points (73-32).
Chris Mannone’s dunk with 3:13 left pushed the margin to 50 points.
Vanderbilt led 49-21 at the half thanks to Edwards’ 14 points off the bench.
The Citadel slowed the pace and switched between man and zone defenses, but that didn’t prevent Vanderbilt from scoring the first seven points on a 28-6 run to start the game.
The Commodores had a 10-1 advantage in first-half takeaways and outscored the Bulldogs 19-0 on those plays. Vanderbilt made 8 of 14 3-pointers in the first half.
Vanderbilt freshman Tyler Tanner had seven points, three assists and two steals. He has 23 assists and 28 steals this season, but has yet to commit a turnover.
