USC flips four star QB Jonas Williams from Oregon
There is a big flip in the 2026 recruitment class. Jonas Williams flipped Oregon In USC.
A four-star quarterback from Frankfort (Illinois) Lincoln Way East committed to Oregon last August LSU, Alabama, Ohio. The Trojan was not actually in the picture at that time. But everything changed for Williams after he recently visited USC for his 19th grade.
Williams is the 10th place commitment in the 2026 class of the Trojan and first quarterback. He soon becomes one of the jewels of the Trojan staff cycle that was retooled.
What Williams means for USC
It’s a big deal that USC pulled this flip away for several reasons. First off, Williams has a great outlook. He is one of the top players and quarterbacks across the country. So landing players of that caliber is always a big deal. But secondly, defeating players from rivals in a meeting means a lot.
The Trojans not only get big players, they’re also keeping him away from Oregon. Since Coach Dan Lanning took over the program, ducks have been a major issue for USC on their recruitment trajectory. This may be a signal that USC is turning the tide back against each other in these battles with the ducks.
The final point to follow here is that USC has added another large player from the Midwest. If the Trojans become elite in the Big Ten, they need to gain talent from the traditional Big Ten footprint. Williams joined four-star defensive end Braden Jones from Chicagoland in his class. The Trojans will appear in the mix for several other players in the region.
What Williams brings to the Trojans
I’ve seen Williams play in person several times over the past two years. His game’s growth is clear. He works well in his pocket, throws the ball with power, but is accurate. Williams throws the ball with good predictions as well as helping his receiver.
But what makes him special is his improvisation ability. Williams is a good athlete and throws the ball well in his run. He can also be used in RPO games as he is more than he can break big runs, as he saw during his junior season. Williams has the ability to become a multi-year starter for USC and Blossom under coaching at Lincoln Riley.
