The Filipino-American, filling in for MVP Malick Diouf, downplayed his own performance and credited the Fighting Maroons’ deep and talented roster for his strong showing.
“We were just focused on playing as a team. The rebounds and the points will come. One night might be my night, JD’s (Caglangan) night, Francis’ (Lopez) night, Dicati’s night,” he said. [Ududo]”It’s anybody’s night,” he said. “We have a really talented team, so I’m just focused on winning, whatever it takes to win, whatever the team asks of me every night.”
“I think it’s just a matter of working together and learning how to play better as the season goes on. As the season goes on, we’ll figure out what each other is good at and what it takes to win this year,” the Citadel graduate added. “It’s not going to be the same as last year, just like next year isn’t going to be the same as this year, so it’s just a matter of finding what we have and using what we can.”
JD Cagulangan, in his final year as an active player, led UP with 17 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.
The Maroons will look to repeat their win on Saturday when they take on University of the East, also at the Big Dome.
