US Women’s National Team star loses Olympic medal in disaster Lynn Williams She doesn’t seem happy after she broke her gold medal while celebrating the US team’s victory!!!
Williams, the NWSL’s all-time leading goalscorer, hosted a storytime with her thousands of followers on TikTok just weeks after the U.S. women’s national team won its fifth gold medal in Paris.
The 31-year-old detailed what happened.
“I was wearing it over my shoulder like a little purse,” Williams said, explaining how the medal and ribbon became separated. “I jumped, I danced, I jumped off and the ribbon fell off.”
“Everybody was dancing and I was walking around trying to knock the medal off the ground. It has a dent in it now so it’s definitely a one-of-a-kind medal.”
The medal was dented and the ribbon was gone.
“It’s definitely one of a kind,” Williams said. “It could have been swung around and not been used, but I think it should have been better. It should have been more sturdy, and I can’t really fault it for that, to be honest.”
Williams added: “How did we get the most expensive coaster in the world!”
The soccer forward said he has been in contact with the IOC and hopes it will be fixed or replaced.
