President Donald Trump’s first official trip since returning to the White House will be to visit the fire-ravaged Los Angeles area, according to a new report.
The news was reported by NewsNation, citing two anonymous sources.
The trip is reportedly scheduled for late next week.
President Trump blamed California Governor Gavin Newsom for the destruction.
“One of the greatest and most beautiful places in the United States of America is burning down,” President Trump posted on Truth Social earlier this month. “It’s gone to ashes, Gavin Newscome should resign. This is all his fault!!!”
California has a law that limits the amount of water that can be pumped from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, creating a shortage of water for firefighting.
“Now the ultimate price is being paid. I demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean fresh water to flow into California. He is responsible for this,” Trump said. added. “And on top of that, there’s no water in the hydrants or in the fire planes. It’s a real disaster!”
The fire destroyed hundreds of thousands of acres and killed at least 27 people.
Nearly 30 people are still missing.
The two largest fires, the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, were still burning as of Sunday afternoon.
Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president on Monday.
