Apparently Breathless reporting It may have been a bit premature to say that Donald Trump is a changed man who would give a different kind of speech at the Republican National Convention, because that’s what he was forced to say after more than an hour of mostly reading from a teleprompter.
Trump spoke frequently about Hannibal Lecter during his election campaign, and apparently couldn’t resist bringing it up during his acceptance speech.
“Has anyone seen ‘Silence of the Lambs,'” Trump asked. “The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’d be delighted to have you over to dinner.”
Why talk about a “great” fictional cannibal? Why not! He is Trump. He speaks nonsense all the time. And despite the best efforts of his entourage and the Republican National Committee to write a completely boring speech that would not show the public what Trump is really like, given enough time in front of a cheering crowd, Trump cannot help but let the public know that there is nothing normal about him.
