Washington – President Donald Trump on Monday called the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics a “disgrace” as he criticized the show’s producers for going too far.
“I’m a very open-minded person, but I thought what they did was disgraceful,” Trump told Fox News.
His comments were that dancers, drag queens and DJs Recalling the depiction of the Last SupperHowever, the creators say it was not intended to have a religious context.
The incident drew international condemnation from Christian groups on social media and from far-right politicians.
Asked by host Laura Ingraham what he would do if re-elected in time for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, Mr Trump replied: “I wouldn’t have the Last Supper that was depicted last night.”
Opening ceremony director Thomas Joly later responded to the criticism, saying the piece was intended to be “reconciling” and “restorative.”
