President-elect Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson agreed to a deal that currently funds the government but raises the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion and cuts spending by $2.5 trillion. This is seen as a reduction in medical costs.

During the Republican convention — Republican leaders announce “deal” on debt ceiling
The agreement states that House Republicans will pledge to reduce “net mandatory spending in the reconciliation process” by $2.5 trillion and raise the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion in the “initial reconciliation package.” There is.
As Congressman Jerry Nadler pointed out:
We cannot reduce $2.5 trillion in mandated spending without significant cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
I stand with @HouseDemocrats and fight back against these cruel and harmful cuts.
If you’re wondering what mandatory spending is, take a look at the table below.
According to the CBO, “mandatory spending” includes: https://t.co/4WBg2xqlqL pic.twitter.com/ZW88P7bbKA

Since Trump Johnson reportedly said Social Security was off the table, which would mean cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and veterans health care. Specifically, Republicans intend to look to repeal Medicaid.
Nadler is right that the only way for Republicans to achieve their goal of forced spending cuts is to gut Social Security and all major health care programs. That’s the only way to cut $2.5 trillion in mandatory spending.
Mr. Trump, Mr. Musk, and the Republican Party are introducing a plan to destroy the nation’s health care system in exchange for tax cuts for the wealthy.
All the people who voted for Donald Trump thinking he would lower prices could end up losing Medicare and Social Security.
