The Transformers film series has been on a holdover for a while, but it looks like the Transformers movie fans have been waiting for is finally coming. Transformers OneAt San Diego Comic-Con, stars Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and director Josh Cooley unveiled a new trailer showcasing the film’s best work to date, which also gives us a good look at Starscream and reveals that Steve Buscemi will be providing the voice.
Check out the trailer below and get in on the action.
Di Bonaventura: Transformers One is set 3 billion years before the main events of the series, so it’s a real trip back to the beginning. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime and Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, and they were best friends back then living on Cybertron. The film follows how their relationship fell apart and escalated into the rivalry we know today.
Some of the Michael Bay era movies have been fun, and his final two feature films were relatively well-received, but there’s something satisfying about seeing these classic characters animated in comparison.
With Hemsworth and Henry, Transformers One The film stars Keegan-Michael Key as B-127, aka Bumblebee, before he lost his vocal cords, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, and Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime. The last Transformers animated film has been nearly 40 years since the last one, so it’s nice to see the series finally return to its animated roots like the classic ’80s series. While some of the Michael Bay-era films were fun and the final two feature films were relatively well-received, it feels right to see these classic characters animated in comparison.
Needless to say, the beautiful animation, stellar cast, and obvious love for the series’ history are reason enough to be excited about this film.
Comic Con attendees: Transformers One While the trailers only offered glimpses of the scenes — one clip shows Orion Pax and D-16 (aka Optimus Prime and Megatron) competing in a Transformers race despite them being just miners — the film gives fans a chance to see Cybertron’s glory days, an era they’ve never actually seen on screen.
Another extension Transformers One The clip glimpsed in the trailer shows Alpha Trion giving Orion, D-16, Elita, and B-127 the gears that give them the ability to transform, followed by a chase scene as they try to get used to their new transformation abilities. Finally, the final clip from Comic-Con introduced the High Guard, led by Starscream, and eventually the Decepticons.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime and Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, who were best friends living on Cybertron.
Of course, we all know who the High Guard will end up going after in the end, but it’ll be cool to see where this goes from here. Transformers One It’s finally hitting theaters, and needless to say, the beautiful animation, all-star cast, and obvious love for the series’ history are reasons to be excited about this film. Rise of the Beast and, G.I. Joe Though it’s a crossover, there’s still work to be done to regain fans’ good graces.
Transformers One We’re just a few months away from the release date: the film hits theaters on September 20th. If this movie lives up to expectations, we may be seeing more Transformers animated projects in the future.
