“As early Tuesday, dozens of business executives and others gathered in the Caucus not far from the White House, as news emerged that the Trump administration was planning a potential double tariff on Canada’s steel and aluminum. People in the room responded with moans and shocked laughter.”
Professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld said there was “a universal dislike for Trump’s economic policy.”
“That sentiment wasn’t clear a few hours later when many of the same top executives at the Yale event attended a question-and-answer session with President Trump at the business roundtable, where the exchange was largely heartfelt and executives didn’t ask the president any pointless questions about his tariff strategy.”
