MANILA, Philippines – TNT may be two games away from winning their second straight PBA Governors’ Cup, but that doesn’t mean the Tropang Giga are taking their foot off the gas just yet.
After his team’s Game 2 win over Ginebra, veteran Jason Castro said he and his team were in no position to be complacent.

Instead, they aim to take things one game at a time in hopes of winning the import-heavy conference’s richest prize for the second year in a row.

“The truth is, I don’t think we can win,” Castro said Wednesday after a 96-84 win at Araneta Coliseum.

“Our mindset is to take it one game at a time. We give it our all every game and no matter the result, we’re happy as long as we give it our all.”
Much of the Tropang Giga’s success so far in the series can be attributed to their prolific defense, which held the Gin Kings in check for the second straight game.
Ginebra, which averaged more than 106.53 points per game as a team, was limited by Castro and others to 88 points in the first game and 84 points in the second game, below 90 points.

“I think it’s clear from the beginning of the season that we put a lot of emphasis on defense, and that’s probably why we win games,” Castro said.
It certainly helps the Tropang Giga cause that the veteran guard is performing like he’s back in his prime.
Castro, who scored 14 points in Game 1, dropped nine points on Wednesday, but it was his passing that really got TNT’s offense going.
Castro, who had seven assists, was pleased with the way his teammates were able to deliver the passes, which will be critical in TNT’s quest to “win one game at a time.”
“I’m very happy because the core of the team is in good shape right now. Last year we had a lot of injuries, but now no matter who we use, their mentality is to protect, not to score,” he said. .
