New Zealand wicketkeeper butter Tim Seifert took Shaheen Shah Afridi to the cleaner in the second T20I, playing against Pakistan in the Dunedin College Oval on Tuesday (March 18) and hit four sixes. The overs scored 26 runs as he placed the home side far ahead during a modest 136 run chase.

The left-arm speedster bowled the maiden to start the innings, but Seifert made up for it when he came in for the second time in a row. The right-handed batsman began by panmering one straight down the ground, followed by extra cover. The third delivery went to the dot before Seifert pinched the couple. The last two balls were also the maximum as Afridi’s numbers read 2-1-26-0 at the end.

Fin Allen had already set the tone for the runchase by hammering the second three sixes that Mohammad Ali sent.

Mohammad Ali, who arrived for the second time in the fifth inning, rejected the 30-year-old with 45, but had already made 16 runs before winning the wicket. Jahandad Khan removed Fin Allen with 38 deliveries from 16 deliveries. Tourists were able to dismiss Mark Chapman, James Neesham and Daryl Mitchell, but the black hat only needed 13.1 over to chase the target, making five wickets affordable.

Coin Toss once again favored the black hat, as he chose to make the field a field first. Pakistan was bowled out at 91 in 18.3 overs in the opening game, with the game down to 15 overs per side due to rain, slightly better. Salman Agha scored a top score at 46, but Shadab Khan (26) and Afridi (22) made important contributions to raise the score to 135. But that wasn’t enough.

The third T20I will be held in Auckland on Friday, March 21st.
