NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CelebrityAccess) — Grammy Award-winning songwriter Tia Shiraz has signed a publishing deal with Toby & Molly Music.
Having sold over 40 singles and 30 million records worldwide, Shiraz is credited as the lyricist on hits such as “There’s Your Trouble” by The Chicks and “Blue on Black” by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Her song “I Hope You Dance”, recorded by Lee Ann Womack and written by Shiraz and co-writer Mark D. Sanders, was adapted into a New York Times bestselling book.
“I met Tia when I moved to the city in 2005 and we quickly became friends. She’s been a mentor to me ever since the day we met, so I was really surprised when she called me last fall to officially work with me,” recalls Toby & Molly Music co-founder Rob Fillhart. “Clint and I are huge fans of her songwriting. Her talent is second to none and her songs are timeless. I’m honored to be working with her in the next chapter of her career.”
“Not only is Robert one of my best friends, he has the best ears in town,” says Shiraz. “He’s really helped me stay true to my craft and is a huge supporter of my music. The thought of working with him and Clint makes me feel hopeful for both my future and the songs I write.”
Shiraz is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on Wednesday, August 28th.
