Three Star Edge Joshua Pittman Commits to Virginia Tech and Feels “Home”
Virginia Tech As the 2026 High 3 Star Edge/External Linebacker Joshua Pittman class committed to the Hokies on Monday, he has one of the state’s top talent homes in the house.
Kingsfork High School (Suffolk, Virginia) ranks as the 13th most likely lead in Virginia and the 54th most likely edge defender in the 2026 cycle.
Pittman has frequented Blacksburg and most recently was at Virginia Tech on March 29th. He is planning to play college football for his head coach. Brent Plynewly hired defensive coordinator Sam Thievesoutside linebacker coach Sean Quinninside linebacker coach Xavier Adibi, Edge Coach Jireh Wilsonassistant head coach/offensive recruitment coordinator/wide receiver coach Fontel Mine (who played a major role in recruiting Pittman) and the rest of the staff.
“I chose Virginia Tech because it felt like home,” Pittman said. “Since they first started recruiting me, they’ve always made me feel like a priority. It’s never a boring moment in Blacksburg!”
Pittman has developed a strong bond with Pry and the rest of the Virginia technology coach. He feels he really wants from his staff and he feels he’s a perfect fit for defense.
“My relationship with Coach Puri is very authentic and is just like every other coach,” Pittman said. “I know they want the best for me, and I want to give them everything I do!”
Last month’s visit to Pittman, he was able to meet Siefkes in person for the first time, and was educated about defense planning and how he fits into the system. The Siefkes were hired by Hokies on January 27th after spending the previous two seasons in the NFL as a linebacker coach. Arizona Cardinals.
“We had the opportunity to meet a new defensive coordinator (Siefkes), and I learned how to use it as an external linebacker/edge type guy in the new scheme,” Pittman said of his latest visit. “I also got to see the practice and see how they are run in practice!”
Pittman will return to Blacksburg for an official visit to Virginia Tech on the weekend of May 30th to June 1st. He is trapped in the Hokies and therefore no other trips are scheduled.
As a state-wide outlook, being able to fit Virginia Tech in the future is special for Pittman and his family.
“Being a Hawkey means a lot,” Pittman said. “I’m following in the footsteps of many great people. I can’t wait to create my name on the next level!”
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Pittman received an offer for an additional scholarship from Duke, IndianaJames Madison, Michigan, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Wake Forest, West Virginia others.
Virginia Tech’s Pittman’s plan is to play as an external linebacker/edge defender who can hurry up with quarterbacks, set edges in running games and drop into pass coverage if necessary.
“They are looking for me as a linebacker/hybrid type guy,” Pittman explained. “I explain my game at a fast pace in the passing game. I can use speed and power (hurrying at the quarterback). I’m very solid in the running game. There’s nothing outside of me. I’m also a great open field tackler!”
Pittman is the second commitment Virginia Tech’s Class of 2026 so far. He joins Kernel Warren’s 3-star wide receiver pledge.
