This spring is the UK’s warmest, most sunniest and rapidly warming climate symptom, weather officials say.
For the second year in a row, Spring set temperature records for the second year in a row, measuring the average above 2.5 degrees (1.4 degrees C). The fever was growing in some areas more warmer coastal waters (4.0 degrees C) than usual.
In the UK there was 43% more sunlight than usual than this spring. In the previous summer, there were only three people. Meanwhile, the spring rainfall was at its lowest level in over 50 years.
“The UK climate continues to change. What is particularly noteworthy in the spring of 2025 is the combination of record warmth and sunlight, along with extremely low rainfall.” Met Office Scientist said Emily Carlisle. “The data clearly show that recent decades are warmer, more cheerful and often dryer than the average of the 20th century.”
