Republicans tried to blame everyone else for the crisis they caused, but House Speaker Mike Johnson on Friday night finally passed a spending bill to keep the government running through the end of the year and into the next administration. Looks like it’s done.
Johnson came out of the House chamber to cheer and tried to erase all memory of the Republican Party. Disastrous treatment of the bill— and how Shadow President Elon Musk And President-elect Donald Trump blocked that early version. When asked if he had spoken to Musk or Trump about the final bill, Johnson’s answer was interesting.
I was in constant communication with President Trump throughout this process. The last time I spoke to him was about 45 minutes ago. He knew exactly what we were doing and why. And this is a good result for the country. I’m sure he’s satisfied with this result. Elon Musk and I spoke about an hour ago.
With that in mind, it might sound like Musk had to approve the deal before Trump did. Of course this is a contradiction Trump team claims Donald is completely in control, and the richest man in the world doesn’t really have the power to make decisions.
