The Los Angeles Dodgers quickly began the 2025 season, wiping out the first three series to set an 8-0 record.
A key part of that success was the team’s offense, producing 45 runs, averaging nearly six per game.
However, bats have been getting cold lately. The Dodgers have only run 29 times in their last nine games (3-6). I lost the last 3 series.
They aim to turn that around when they host the latest Colorado Rockies in the opening game of the three-game set on Monday night.
The Dodgers are in a 4-2 defeat to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.
“I think we just don’t sync offensively,” said Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts. “It’s not from preparation, not from work. …It happens. It’s in this last nine or ten games stretch.
Dodgers’ Shohei ohtani has up and down the series from the past few. He went 1-1 against Chicago after going 13-6 against the Washington Nationals, where a one-on-one set with the Philadelphia Phillies preceded.
Right-handed Dustin May (0-1, 0.82 ERA) is due to open in Los Angeles on Monday. He has four career appearances (three starts) against Colorado. He has a 2.81 ERA while allowing 5 runs with 12 hits in these games, but has yet to make a decision.
For the Rockies, it was an offensive struggle that it was 16-0 to be swept 16-0 in three games for the San Diego Padres over the weekend and the first time in Rockies’ history to be blanked in three straight games.
The Rockies scored 40 runs in League Low while abandoning 84, and are second-linked in MLB, behind only athletics (89). Colorado was 88-9, earning San Diego with just 12 base runners, entering the series with a team batting average of .243.
“It’s been frustrating for guys over the last few weeks,” said Colorado manager Bud Black. “Everyone did the job, but it’s just not translated. It’s certainly frustrating.”
They have only three wins in 15 games this season, sitting last in the MLB rankings. Their start has tied to the 2019 team to 15 worst games in franchise history.
Rookie 2 base prospect Adael Amador is about to show off his job from Triple A Albuquerque after being called on Sunday. He played in a 6-0 loss to the Rockies’ Padres, making it 0-3.
After struggling with 10-game call-ups last season, Amador enjoyed a solid start this season at Albuquerque, with a base plus slug ratio averaged .275 and 0.858.
“I showed confidence. That was a major thing I had missing last year,” Amador said through an interpreter. “It’s a big part of my game and I have the confidence to show my abilities there.”
Right-handed Antonio Censatera (0-2, 5.14 ERA) will begin at the Rockies on Monday. The 30-year-old is 4-6, with 17 appearances (15 starts) against the Dodgers and an ERA of 6.08.
