of It Ends With Us The ending of this film is sure to be controversial.
Now, It Ends With Us This is the first public releaseLongtime fans of the book and those new to the story will both enjoy watching the film adaptation.
The book, inspired by the author’s own experience with parental abuse, is controversial, and the film is sure to be just as controversial.
Perhaps the most exciting part is It Ends With Us The ending itself. What should moviegoers expect?
What is the movie “It Ends With Us” about? (Spoiler alert!)
It Ends With Us The film is based on the 2016 novel of the same name, written by Colleen Hoover and screenplay by Christy Hall.
Starring in a movie Blake Lively She plays the main character, Lily Bloom. The story begins as a love story, in which Lily falls in love with Lyle Kincaid and the two quickly hit it off.
But the story soon takes a dark turn. Lily sees too many similarities between her marriage to Lyle and her parents’ abusive marriage. At one point, Lyle shoves her, at another, he throws her down a flight of stairs.
Beware of spoilers, as well as depictions of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Abusers have horrific stories, some true, some fictional. In Lyle’s case, as a child he accidentally shot and killed his younger brother. Now as an adult, he has developed violent outbursts of rage and violence, and he has been violent towards his wife.
Particularly chilling is the scene where Lyle invades Lily’s privacy and goes through her diary, a behavior all too common with abusive partners (abusive parents, ex-lovers, etc.) In this case, her childhood diary contains entries about a platonic friend, Atlas Corrigan, who becomes convinced she is cheating on him.
Lyle’s abuse escalates: he sexually assaults her, and when she tries to fight him off, he headbutts her so hard that she is knocked unconscious.
“It Ends With Us” depicts an all-too-real nightmare
Lily escapes from Lyle and seeks help from Atlas, who takes her to the hospital, where Lily discovers she is pregnant with her abuser’s child.
Naturally, Lily doesn’t want to raise her children in an abusive home – that’s how she was raised.
However, she eventually decides to stay with Lyle during the final months of her pregnancy. She confides in Atlas about Lyle’s abuse, which he already suspected. Then, after giving birth to her daughter, she files for divorce from Monster so that her daughter will not have to grow up in the same household. She then begins co-parenting with Lyle, and she and Atlas express a desire to have a relationship as adults.
Why is It Ends With Us so controversial?
Every story about domestic violence is controversial. Not everyone’s experience is the same. Some victims may have had it worse than others (someone always has it worse). Some victims may find the abuser to be overly sympathetic or less sympathetic than the abuser they experienced.
Many readers don’t understand why Lily let Lyle stay in her life for so long, with critics stating that the moment Lyle pushed Lily, or at least pushed her down the stairs, their relationship was likely over.
There’s also the issue of Lily’s decision to allow Lyle to co-parent their daughter. Obviously, an abuser is an abuser, even if he didn’t direct his violent anger at Amy (which is a big problem). if), which she should witness when he dates again.
Why did the author make these choices?
Unfortunately, in both books and movies, It ends with us‘s outcomes are painfully real for millions of victims of domestic violence.
Abusers often target those who have been abused in the past, which is both realistic and what Lyle does in the book and the film. Lily resents her parents’ abusive marriage, which clearly helps Lyle convince her that the way he treats her is normal and okay.
Colleen Hoover was inspired by her father’s abuse of her mother. It Ends With UsI understood that very clearly. Abusers are manipulative people, and victims can make strange choices. It’s always good to remember that fictional stories are not guidebooks for how real people should behave. This is not a morality play.
Is there a movie or TV drama version of “Seraph of the End”?
Apparently there’s some big drama going on behind the scenes. It Ends With UsOne of the stars of the film (Justin Baldoni) is also the director, but he seems to be at odds with many of the cast members. Or maybe fans are… Twitter And Instagram is reading too much into it.
Whatever is going on, people are watching this press tour. Don’t worry darling Big failure.
Can we all enjoy a Blake Lively movie? Well, maybe “enjoy” isn’t the right word given the subject matter, but early reviews are citing the solid acting as one of the film’s successes.
