Logan O’Hoppe hit a home run with a career-high five RBIs as the Los Angeles Angels scored an 11-9 victory over the Clayton Carshaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Kershaw made his season debut following multiple offseason surgeries, giving up five runs with five hits in four innings. In his first start since August 30, 20204, he walked three and attacked twice on 83 pitches.
Taylor Ward and Matthew Lugo also hit home runs, with Kenley Jansen getting four outs on his eighth save, his previous team. Reid Detmers (1-2) gave up the run in two innings and won.
The Angels have scored their first series victory at Dodger Stadium since winning a two-game set in 2019. Visitors won 6-2 on Friday, and the series rapped on Sunday.
Andy Page and Enrique Hernandez hit a Dodgers home run, while Freddie Freeman added four hits.
Kershaw worked early when the Angels loaded bass in their first innings with a single from Nolan Chanuel and walked to Ward and Jorge Soller. O’Hoppe continued with a two-run single, while Lugo added an RBI double with a 3-0 lead.
The Dodgers tied it at the bottom of the first inning when Mookie Betts and Freeman singled on one out and Page hit a home run to his ninth center field.
The Angels returned forward in his 11th three innings, Ward’s leadoff home run. They increased their advantage to 5-3 in four innings with Zack Neto’s sacrifice fly.
The Dodgers pulled within 5-4 in the fourth inning when Hernandez hit his seventh home run, a home run. They jumped 6-5 in the sixth, with rookie Dalton doubled on the run and Michael Comfort scored on the wild pitch. Later in the innings, Rushing scored when Shohei Ohtani grounded a double play with Detmer.
Ohoppe’s seventh 3-run home run of five runs started off from right-handed Kirby Yates (3-2) and later on with a hamstring injury. Nolan Chanuel and Kevin Newman also scored RBI hits in the innings.
The Dodgers pulled within 10-9 with their seventh rushing and Max Muncie for the eighth RBI single. Janssen put his comfort on the ground and worked around the ninth in the round and escaped the baseloaded jam with two outs in the eighth.
