Vice President Kamala Harris had 107 days to unite the Democratic Party and launch a presidential campaign. She made history as the first black and South Asian woman to win the nomination of a major political party. And her groundbreaking campaign was powered by Black women and other women leaders of color who came together en masse to donate, organize, volunteer and vote.

Why is this important?
Vice President Harris stood up to the hate, vitriol, and threats repeatedly spewed by Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and MAGA Republicans. She did this because she believed in the promise of this country and the power of joy, community, and unity to overcome fear and division.
Our movement has been, and always will be, about much more than a single election. Exposing the racism, white supremacy, and misogyny upon which this country was founded, confronting the powerful and wealthy elites, and resisting and replacing the hatred designed to isolate and divide us. Our struggle to dream and plan for a better path continues.
It continues because of the tireless efforts of movement leaders before us and those of today, people who endured the worst of this country’s conditions and still believed in each other and the possibilities of the future. She gave hope to the millions who saw themselves and their loved ones on the campaign trail, and she lit a fire in the 67 million people who voted for the future we still deserve. I did.
