A very bad Tuesday night for Donald Trump got really bad.
Minutes after the convicted felon was lambasted by Vice President Kamala Harris during the debate (at one point Trump went so far as to claim that “people on TV” were saying immigrants eat pets), this finally happened:
Taylor Swift has endorsed Harris as a US presidential candidate.
“Like many of you, I watched tonight’s debate,” the superstar wrote at the start of a lengthy social media statement.
“If you haven’t done so already, now is a great time to find out where candidates stand on the issues at hand and the topics that matter most to you.
“As a voter, I try to watch and read everything I can about the policies and plans they propose for the country.”
Swift then addressed Trump’s lame and desperate attempt a few weeks ago to make it seem like he had her back.
“I was recently made aware of an AI version of ‘me’ posted on his site falsely endorsing Donald Trump for president,” the artist continued.
“It really brought home my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It made me conclude that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election.”
“The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth.”
Taylor then dropped a truth bomb that Trump has long feared may soon detonate.
Swift writes:
I intend to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President in 2024.
I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she’s fighting for rights and causes and I believe we need warriors to defend them.
I think she is a poised and talented leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos.
“I am so encouraged and inspired by the selection of @timwalz as your VP running mate, someone who has stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s body rights for decades.
Swift was notoriously out of politics until October 2018, when she endorsed several Democratic candidates in her home state of Tennessee.
In the midst of the highest-grossing tour in music history and with a fanbase more rabid than any celebrity ever, many onlookers are wondering whether Swift will get involved in the 2024 presidential election.
Now we have the answer.
“I did my research and I made my choice,” she concluded.
“You do all your research and you make your own choices. I would say, especially to people who are voting for the first time, to remember that you need to register to vote. I also think voting early is a lot easier.”
“I will include links in my stories to where to register and early voting dates and information.”
Swift, an avid cat lover, even signed her message “childless cat woman,” quoting a phrase used by Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance to describe the type of people he believes are ruining the country.
Kid Rock, it’s your turn.
