Online Behavioral Healthcare Company Talkspace has announced a partnership with the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) as the player advocacy organization’s exclusive mental health technology partner.
The aim is to provide players, their families and support teams with free 24/7 access to Talkspace’s self-guided therapy app, Talkspace Go, and discounted virtual therapy sessions.
Eligible professional tennis players, along with their family members and support teams aged 13 and over, will receive one year of complimentary access to Talkspace Go, an online, self-guided mental health support program that offers therapist-supervised personalized therapy courses and live and on-demand virtual classes.
Additionally, players can sign up for individual, couples, or teen therapy and have unlimited access to qualified therapists covered by their insurance. If you choose individual therapy and pay out of pocket, you’ll receive a $100 discount on your first month.
Talkspace’s therapy services allow members to connect with thousands of licensed therapists and engage through live video, audio or chat sessions or unlimited asynchronous text message sessions.
Sessions are delivered via an encrypted web and mobile platform that complies with HIPAA, federal and state regulatory requirements.
“Professional tennis players face unique challenges including constant travel, living out of a suitcase all year round and dealing with the pressures of an individual sport, which can make it difficult to prioritise their mental health,” PTPA Secretary General Ahmad Nasser said in a statement.
“Through Talkspace, we are now able to support our players’ wellbeing holistically and consistently, not just during tournaments but throughout the year. This is an important addition to our PTPA Mental Fitness program and player health and wellness services.”
