Storycraft – AI-powered gaming platforms that allow players to create, explore and share their own interactive story worlds have collected $3 million seed rounds.
Montreal-based startup funding accelerates global multi-platform launches Storycraft multiplayer mobile game It is built on Google Cloud, combining AI creative tools, online communities and social storytelling in the ways we’ve seen it before.
Khosla Ventures lead The Round follows a previous $2 million seed round led by London Venture Partners (LVP) and Signalfire.
StoryCraft was co-founded by Andy Mauro. He is the longtime AI innovator behind Nuance’s Nina Nina, the world’s first enterprise mobile voice assistant, and Automat, the leading product recommended chatbot (retrieved in 2021).
With StoryCraft, Mauro wants to create Minecraft for storytelling. This is a place where not only game designers but also those with the story of the story can work together with AI to turn ideas into a rich, playable experience.
“Early players show that creating characters, worlds and stories with AI is more than a better version of community craft games,” Storycraft CEO Mauro said in a statement. “It’s about rekindling the creative sparks that creative spark players think have actually left. It told people that they helped them through the author’s block, that they’ve picked up paintings again, and that they’ve found a new way to express themselves in storycraft and that they’re less pills of anxiety as a result of finding new ways to express themselves.”
He added: Live the story in it. ”
StoryCraft is combined:
• AI World Building Tools: Players use the generated AI to create characters, items, structures, gifts, and even sky and lighting effects, giving each world a unique feel.
• Social Game Play: Real and AI friends can explore and contribute to each other’s worlds and stories. AI characters ask human players to make things, and players visit each other’s worlds to create an almost endless well of continuous inspiration.
• UGC-led economy: Players acquire, trade and introduce user-generated content across shared multiverses. StoryCraft is literally the first game where everything is created by the player.
• Emotional storytelling: Every world is the setting for personal, cheerful, heartfelt, or epic stories. AI acts as a muse to help players come up with ideas, but also responds to the details they provide, raising creative antes like true creative partners.

“AI can be both a consumer and a creator for anyone,” Vinod Khosla of Khosla Ventures said in a statement. “StoryCraft introduces a new kind of social gameplay that allows players to build their own characters and interact with them in their digital worlds.”
Since launching Open Alpha, StoryCraft has already seen players create characters, structures and objects generated in thousands of worlds and hundreds of thousands of AI. Many players have already spent hundreds of hours creating multiple worlds across a variety of genres, including cozy, fantasy, post-apocalypse, horror, romance, sci-fi and more. Attractively, the majority of the world are unique works and are not based on existing IPs.
Seed funding will support team expansion, product development and preparing for the game’s public beta launch later this year.
