Mountain Trekkers, beware – avalanche warnings are in effect on the backcountry areas of Snow Calmie and Stevens Pass, as well as the rest of the western and east slopes of the remaining cascade range on Monday.

The Ati River brings heavy rains in western Washington on Sunday, with the Northwest Avalanche Center expecting “slight” avalanche hazard conditions. The rain has gone, but a “destructive and deadly natural avalanche” is still possible, but the center warned.

Avalanche Center experts advise outback travelers to avoid all open, steep slopes. If you need to cross an avalanche path, you will need to pass through the rough terrain and gully under the bark. For those who have the courage to the conditions, we expect some flooded trips, the center said.
