Ubisoft is gearing up for the release of Star Wars Outlaws and recently released a 10-minute gameplay video. However, the video has received mixed reactions. Despite this, Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will not be delayed and will be released as scheduled on August 30th.
The video is, IGN revealedshows protagonist Kay Vass going through a mission in the game: As he makes his way through a forest of dead Sarlacc creatures to retrieve a clean Sarlacc tooth, he is ambushed and his haul is stolen. Kay chases the thief to retrieve the tooth, which he needs to pay the Jawas to install a turret on his ship.
Reactions across various platforms were critical of both the graphics and gameplay, with negative opinions about the graphics being so severe that IGN pinned the comments on YouTube, advising viewers to play the video in higher resolution instead of the default 420p.
But even after issuing this warning, people remain largely unimpressed. “My video settings say ‘quality’ so there must be something else causing it…” said one skeptical viewer. “So we just ignore the frame drops and San Andreas-like explosions?” questioned another. Another put it bluntly, “It looks like an alpha that needs at least a year of polishing.”
Some users have expressed skepticism not just about the graphics, but also about the gameplay itself: “It’s wrong to show off fetch quests,” one user said. Reddit thread discussing this video “That’s a really… really bad sequence of events. Meme quality,” one user commented. Another user was concerned about what the preview choice says about the rest of the game, commenting, “Looks so boring. I can’t believe these are the 10 minutes they chose to advertise the game… how boring and slow is the rest of it?”
