“The bad bunny, sandwiched between quattros and conga, swings Puerto Rican power around a small, defiant desk full of joy,” producer Anamaria Artemisa Sayre (NPR) introduces Bad Bunny’s small desk concert with his observations on his dedication to the “Island” and his ability to portray audiences in “True Magic: Intimacy.”
For a while, Bad Bunny I forgot that he was not in Puerto Rico. Despite living in a news building in the US capital, the small desk, when coloured by the careful vision of a true artist, brings the true origins of music elsewhere, especially when it comes to life.
But for the superstar, Puerto Rico is so loved and so sacred that he could never really forget it…and he makes sure the world sees it too. The island is the source of his inspiration and his duty to wage war. A bad bunny caught between a quattros and a conga sways the power of a Puerto Rican who has chorded and hummed Lerorai For a generation of efforts to keep culture alive.
After performing “lo que lepasóa hawaii,” San Benito spoke a parable about a man attracted to his band rehearsing outside the White House. “It’s incredible,” says the story man, “After 100 years of colonization, you will maintain your culture, your language, your tongue, your slang.”
The Puerto Rican flag was laid out before he glowed. Its glorious blue is rebellious and attractive. “They waving flags and killing people,” Bad Bunny sings in “La Mudanza.” But there is such a joy in expression, and dance has such a vibrancy. Even on his global platform, Benito’s true magic is intimacy. He wants you to fall in love with Puerto Rico. We scream with him: “Yoide P f ***** r!” Your mind doesn’t know the difference, whether you are.
