Sports Kansas City scored two goals in 2 1/2 minutes of second half suspension time to score a 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC in Kansas City on Wednesday night.
A slow alternative to KC’s sport, Mason Toy received a beautiful pass from Manu Garcia and redirected over Charlotte Keeper Christy Giancarina at the 93rd minute mark. Less than three minutes later, Dejan Joveljic scored with a left foot shot from the center of the box.
Idan Toklomati had Charlotte FC on top in the 34th minute.
It was the first match between the two, who were playing their first match in 11 days.
Sporting KC (5-10-4, 19 points) won his third home victory of the season.
Charlotte (8-10-1, 25 points) lost for the first time on five occasions when he led at halftime.
The game in Kansas City was fourth in Charlotte’s five-game road stretch. Charlotte is 2-8-1 on the road this season.
Both sides began the second half in attack mode, with SKC getting the most opportunities. However, the host was unable to find the back of the net until the downtime.
Charlotte’s Kerwin Vargas had multiple chances to finish the game in the final 10 minutes, but he missed out on three straight opportunities.
Charlotte FC dominated possession and opportunity in the first 20 minutes, earning six shots (three in goal) before Sports KC became the first. However, the sport had the best chance to break a scoreless tie in the 20th minute.
Daniel Saroy picked up a pass and raced over his left flank. He had two teammates to his right when he drew near Carlina.
Unfortunately, in the sport he was unable to find either of the goals, although he filmed the goals.
Sport got another great opportunity in the 29th minute, but Shapi Suleimanoff’s attempt at a shot from just outside the box was drawn in Kalom from the left post and rolled inside the box without anyone getting it back.
After a short control by SKC, Charlotte finally took the lead with a beautiful finish from Tochromati. Souleyman Doumbia gave Toklomati in the middle of the six-yard box, and Toklomati went back heeling past John Pulskamp.
