Sister Wives star Kody Brown shocked TLC fans when he tried to explain why his marriage to all of his ex-wives ended. And of course…it’s not his fault.
In his latest bombshell, Kody Brown gave some very worrying reasons behind his decision to stay married to his first wife, Meri Brown. Kody now claims he never loved her. He also said that he regretted marrying her from the beginning.
So why did Cody keep Meri Brown around for all these years? In other words, he wasted years of her life.
Kody really outdid himself on the latest episode of Sister Wives when he told his ex-wives, “If I don’t love you, blame yourself.” Classic Kodi – basically telling them it’s their fault he doesn’t love them, not his.
The way Kody treated his wives was clearly different. Although he has publicly said he regrets marrying Meri and Christine Brown, his relationship with Janelle Brown appears to be a different matter.
Kody tried to keep Janelle back in previous seasons as well. He even tried to persuade her to stay with him. But his decision to turn his back on his children and blame them for their estrangement ultimately became a decision for Janelle.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown shocks fans, blames ex-wife for failed marriage
Anyone who watches Sister Wives has seen how Kody has been pushing Meri away for years. During season 18, he began complaining about feeling “stuck” in his plural marriage.
He said his wives had the right to leave the house, but he didn’t have it. He made it clear that he wanted Meri to leave. And it seemed like he was actively trying to get rid of her. Many fans consider this to be emotional abuse. Because Kody tells Meri that he wants to try to make it work, and then intentionally tries to get her to leave. Kody even admitted that he lied to make it work, so this is a clear case of gaslighting.
Meanwhile, Meri Brown said they were happy in the early days of their marriage. She said Kody loves her. This makes sense since Meri is Kody’s first wife and he wouldn’t have married her if he didn’t love her at the time.
Meri considers Kody’s recent comments about Sister Wives to be cruel and believes he was trying to push her away so he wouldn’t be seen as the “bad guy.”
Meri’s perception echoes the observations of many Sister Wives fans. they too I noticed Kodi. Years of manipulative behavior.
SW: Kody stayed with Meri out of fear even though he claimed he didn’t love her.
The most shocking revelation happened when Kody Brown casually dropped a bombshell on the real reason he was with Meri and didn’t dump her sooner.
Kody did not abandon Meri, even though he claimed he never loved her and said he regretted marrying her.
In a confessional on Sister Wives, Kody admitted that he should have ended his marriage to Meri 25 years ago. However, he apparently stayed in the marriage out of fear. And the reason behind this fear becomes very disturbing as you read on.
Kody Brown said he stayed with Meri (and wasted 25 years of her life) because “the church leadership will never let you remarry if you leave your wife.”
This surprising statement made him lie to Meri that he wanted his marriage to work just to stay in his loveless marriage and leave the door open for him to marry more women. That’s what I confessed.
So instead of addressing the problems in his first marriage or ending the relationship, Kody chose to continue the cycle of polygamy. Even if it means keeping Meri in an unhappy and unfulfilling partnership.
Viewers are tired of seeing a character who always talks about love and family dragging Meri around like this just to keep marrying more wives.
